Yeah, back from hiatus! The magazine project isn’t done, yet it’s already on the final phase now. We’ll have it on local bookstores on the second or third week of September. Hopefully. The reason why I need to go on hiatus for a while back then was because the keep-on-postponed schedule, everchanging contents, and lousy management are screaming for my attention. Now the whole system is somehow rearranged. We’re running full-throttled, ready for some kicking promotion and sets of grand launching event sometime in this week or after. Let’s just see what happens next.

Whoa! Enough with the mellowy tone… *girang mode* Gue baru aja dibeliin digital camera! You’re the best, mom (^-^)b Awalnya sih sederhana aja. Hari Kamis lalu gue ada schedule interview ama Adon Base Jam, jadi pinjem digicam si kriz, sementara si kriz sendiri ga bisa ikut gue karena dia kudu ngelonin photo session di Cilandak Town Square. Gara-gara pulang interview kemaleman, digicam-nya gue bawa pulang. Iseng-iseng nunjukin ama nyokap and dia ternyata langsung tertarik. Ya udah, besoknya gue langsung hunting di internet. Jumat malem kasih tunjuk beberapa model sambil diskusi harga. Pendek cerita, Sabtu siang jam 11 gue pesen lewat telpon dan tepat jam 1, I met my lovely Nikon Coolpix 3100. Korean box-office hits will be remade by Hollywood studios for audiences in the United States and beyond. Local filmmaker Shin Cine said on Feb. 27 that it has sold the rights to remake its romantic comedy “The Sassy Girl” (Korean title: Yeopgijeogin Geunyeo) to DreamWorks SKG for $750,000.
According to the contract signed last week, Shin Cine is entitled to collect 4 percent of box-office revenues from its worldwide distribution. The Hollywood-based company Maverick Films will produce the new version of the Korean comedy with a screenplay to be written by Jessica Bendinger of “Bring It On” and the TV series “Sex and the City.”
This is not a hot story anymore, since it got announced officially last year, but it is sure new and shocking for me. Aaaaah, that’s an unquestionably foolish plan… How those white and rigid Americans can ever suit to the heartfelt mellowy love story? Moreover, My Sassy Girl is about this strangled feelings of two Asian teens, people with absolutely different lifestyle and culture from American boys who have lost their sense of romanticism to rock, sex, and drugs. It’s totally out of the question, man. Doesn’t Hollywood realize that the not-too-successful-Asian-remake The Ring is a big sign whether they should go on remaking Asian stuff or not? Hollywood, are you listening me?
Drama Amerika emang asyik, seperti Sleepless in Seattle atau si klasik Dance With Wolves, tapi sama sekali tidak bisa dibandingkan dengan Asian drama. Ada sentuhan budaya yang berbeda yang hanya bisa disampaikan oleh wajah-wajah tertentu, atau suasana bahasa tertentu, atau juga sekedar kharisma pasangan tertentu. Sekedar menterjemahkannya ke dalam plot Amerika jelas akan membuat My Sassy Girl jadi kehilangan giginya. Apalagi bila screenplay nya dikerjakan oleh seseorang yang lebih tahu cara ekspos kissing and multipleorgasm daripada tentang cinta, si Jessica Bedinger itu. Waduh, this is horrible.
Ngomong-ngomong, gue punya proyek movielog nih, yang bakalan berisi rants tentang film-film yang baru aja kita tonton. Lho, kok ‘kita’? Yups, rencananya bakalan ada maksimal 5 moggers (movieloggers!) yang bakalan nulis di sana. Sejauh ini dah terkumpul tiga sih. Butuh dua lagi. Siapa yach?
