As I expected, the participant in the fortunetelling booth were really enthusiastic that I don’t have time to walk around the room for strolling-readings. Starting at 7.20pm as the MC voiced their welcome, the fortunetelling booth had already packed with 8 people line. Superb.
The booth ended somewhere at 9.30pm, without no breaks whatsoever, totalling of 2hours10minutes, or 30minutes longer than the agreement with event organizer. The total visitors for the booth were up to 40 people, 90% of them were ladies. I can say that last night was one of the most extra-throttled corporate service I’d ever given so far, especially since I had to compete with the extreme sound system coming from my behind. I needed to shout for the whole session, so it was like more to yelling than giving counsels.

Yes, ain’t it sweet, uh? Di tengah-tengah orang lagi pada sibuk ama ribuan kutipan romantis, coklat, boneka teddy bear dan bunga mawar, it would be wonderful to see someone, or better a couple!, using my tshirt design above.
I hate Valentine’s Day. It’s a fad. A globalized whoring time where we are supposed to spoil our beloved ones with dramatized manner. Orang bilang VD itu kesempatan buat ngerayain cinta, but apa enaknya sih ngerayain dengan cara yang sama? Love should be special, tapi apanya yang spesial kalo ternyata di seluruh dunia orang lagi bergombal-gombal ria juga? Doh!
Love doesn’t need any special day, kalaupun mau ada, ya mungkin jauh lebih baik itu adalah hari waktu jadian or married dulu. Hari itu jauh lebih berkenang dan memang ada maknanya yang patut dirayakan. Bukannya intermezzo cinta selama 24 jam dimana situasi diatur supaya bermakna seperti yang diajarkan tradisi VD selama ini! That’s not a celebration. That’s a terrible disrespect to the wonderful meaning of love!
Moreover, VD playes another money game in forms of fancy suits, chocos, books on love and relationship, flowers, Kodak, heart balloons, romantic SMS, postcards, dinner, pair necklace/earring/wristband/etc, teddy bears, and any other things with kinky pinky lines. Semuanya harus berhubungan dengan merogoh dompet jauh lebih banyak daripada hari-hari biasanya. Gue sering denger ada orang bilang, “Valentine kan ga perlu ngasih hadiah mahal-mahal. Yang penting kan romantisme give and take nya..” Yeah right! *rolls eyes*
So what is VD? VD is the matrix, a systemic mind program built to simulate a perfect 24 human hours time for transfigurating the consequence of the grotesqueries imperfection of love inherent in every human actions throughout the whole 364 days. While this program functioned, it is fundamentally flawed, thus creating the otherwise contradictory systemic abuse to the free-will of every human couple. Those that refuse the VD program would constitute an escalating probability of feeling unworthiness and incompleteness in their love life. Ergo, failure to comply with this program will result in a cataclysmic decline of intimacy, coupled with the extermination of belongness, that will result in the extinction of the whole ongoing relationship.
Nah tuh, gue juga pusing ngarangnya. XD Pendeknya, Valentine’s Day adalah budaya semata yang lebih memperbudak manusia daripada memberikan kesenangan. Love is about you and your lover, so just keep it that simple. You don’t need to invite St. Valentine and other pinky gadjets to add to your party of love. Don’t celebrate Valentine’s Day. Just celebrate your love.

It’s been two years, and there have been a lot of changes, especially tahun ini. Tapi tetep aja pandangan gue tentang Valentine ngga berubah.
